MOSY + Ragtag Cinema present: Kiki's Delivery Service
In this beloved coming-of-age animated film from Japanese powerhouse Studio Ghibli, young witch Kiki and her talking cat Jiji move to a seaside village where she must spend a year alone honing her magical abilities. In need of income, Kiki uses her broom flying skills to start a popular delivery service. However, when Kiki has a lapse in confidence, she must find a way to regain her magical abilities. This screening will be preceded by a musical performance from MOSY musicians and followed by a panel discussion exploring the relationship between music and film.
Panelists include Wilbur Lin, Music Director for MOSY; Eric Lancaster, Assistant Teaching Professor of Japanese at the University of Missouri-Columbia; and Ramsay Wise, Assistant Teaching Professor and Film Critical Studies Coordinator at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
This music + film experience is a great teaser for the final concert of the 2024/2025 MOSY Season, The Music of Studio Ghibli happening on May 9, 2025 at the Missouri Theatre.
