Weary from a decade of fighting in the Crusades, knight Antonius Block (Max von Sydow) returns home to discover his country grappling with the Black Plague. When he encounters Death on an isolated beach, Antonius challenges him to a decisive chess game that sends him on a quest to discover the meaning of life, death, and God. Selected for Ragtag Rewind by longtime Ragtag Regulars Bill Bondeson and Linda Cupp. This screening will be followed by a discussion with Bill and Linda about the themes and legacy of The Seventh Seal.
